Blake Shelton is suing In Touch parent company Bauer Media for a false cover story that wrongly claimed he was in rehab, Gossip Cop confirms.
As Gossip Cop reported, last month In Touch published a cover that announced “REHAB For Blake” and “He Finally Hits Rock Bottom.” The accompanying article alleged Shelton had a supposed drinking problem that had friends “terrified that he could end up dead.” “Insiders” were quoted as saying “Blake needs rehab,” with a supposed “intervention in the works.”
One day after the issue hit newsstands, Shelton mocked the claims on Twitter. But now he’s taking much more serious action. A rep for the country superstar confirms to Gossip Cop that a lawsuit was filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court against Bauer Media.
The suit stresses that Shelton was never in rehab and has no need for such treatment, and points out some of the cover story’s most egregious lines. The singer is seeking at least $2 million in damages. Shelton may have been motivated to take legal action because the “rehab” lie was just the magazine’s latest sensational cover about him.
As Gossip Cop previously noted, “The Voice” coach threatened to sue In Touch in August after claiming he had an “affair” while married to Miranda Lambert. Clearly, the “rehab” tale was the final straw, and he’s now been pushed over the edge, They should have know better.
