Bomb blast rocks car pack in Kano

An Improvised Explosive Device went off at the New Road motor park, located at the Sabon-Gari area of Kano on Thursday, killing a yet-to-be-identified woman while injuring eight other people.
The incident occurred barely 24 hours after a twin blast rocked neigbouring Kaduna State, killing 82 people.
The Kano incident, which occurred around 3pm, led to a stampede as people struggled to leave the scene.
This marked the second time the same park was attacked. The first blast, which was carried out last year, led to the loss of over 70 lives.

It was gathered that unlike the first time, when a bomb-laden vehicle was used, this time around, the device was conveyed in a refrigerator which was smuggled into the park by a truck pusher.
Eyewitnesses say the truck pusher was able to beat security personnel at the gate because he disguised the refrigerator like part of the luggage of a passenger.
“It went off at the point of loading it onto a stationary vehicle,” says the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Adelenre Shinaba, while confirming the explosion to newsmen.
Shinaba added, “A woman lost her life to the blast, while eight others, who were injured, have been taken to the hospital.”
